Gas industry software that does the heavy engineering work

Every service below exists to remove repetitive drafting and manual code-checking from your workload. You keep the judgement calls; the AI handles the iterations, the calculations and the paperwork.

Industrial piping manifold with pressure valves and flanged connections Piping design

AI-Assisted Piping Design

Describe the duty and constraints, and the system proposes routed layouts you can compare side by side — with pressure drop, flow and sizing worked out before you commit to a route.

  • Intelligent layout options ranked by cost, length and access
  • Code compliance flagged as the route changes, not after
  • Pressure and flow analysis attached to every revision

Gas Station Infrastructure Planning

Turn a site survey into a workable forecourt in a single sitting. Pump islands, tank positions, vehicle circulation and hazardous area zoning are laid out together, so conflicts surface early.

  • Site optimisation across throughput and access
  • Safety zone mapping generated with the layout

Gas Storage Facility Design

Size a tank farm against real demand profiles instead of rules of thumb. Capacity, separation distances and thermal behaviour are modelled together, then checked against the codes that apply on your site.

  • Capacity and containment calculations in minutes
  • Thermal and relief analysis built into the model

Engineering Consultation & Validation

No design leaves the platform unchecked. Our certified gas engineers review AI output, challenge assumptions and hand back a marked-up design you can take to a client or an inspector with confidence.

  • Independent review by sector-experienced engineers
  • Written rationale for every change requested

Technical Documentation Generation

The paperwork writes itself from the model. Drawings, schedules, method statements and compliance packs stay in step with the design, so a late change does not mean a late night.

  • Blueprints and equipment schedules generated automatically
  • Compliance documentation regenerated on every revision
Sectors we serve

Built for the people who keep gas moving safely

The rules change depending on what you store, how much of it and who is standing next to it. Our models are tuned to the realities of each of these sectors rather than to a generic drafting template.

Utility Companies

Regional distribution work that has to coordinate with existing mains, third-party services and reinstatement windows. Plan tie-ins and pressure tiers with the network already in the model.

Engineering consultants reviewing site drawings together at a project table

Engineering Consultancies

Firms serving the gas industry who want AI-augmented capability without hiring a data team. Take on more concurrent projects while keeping your own engineers on the technical decisions.

How it works

Four steps, and an engineer in control of all of them

Nothing happens in a black box. You can see what the AI assumed, why it chose a route, and exactly what changed between revisions.

STEP 01

Project Setup

Define the facility type, capacity and regulatory framework, then upload your site data — survey files, existing drawings, ground conditions and service positions.

STEP 02

AI Design Generation

The system produces optimised piping layouts, equipment placement and hazardous area zoning, with the supporting calculations and compliance notes attached to each option.

STEP 03

Engineer Review & Refinement

Certified gas engineers validate the output against site reality, adjust what needs adjusting and record the reasoning. Approval is a human decision, every time.

STEP 04

Deployment & Support

Export final blueprints, technical specifications and compliance reports in the formats your contractors and regulators expect — then keep them current as the project evolves.

AI augments engineering expertise — it does not replace it. Our platform accelerates the drafting, checking and documentation. Responsibility for the final design and its sign-off stays with the licensed engineer who approves it.

Engineers on what changed for them

Straight from the people doing the drafting, the reviewing and the signing off.

The first draft used to eat a fortnight. Now it lands the same afternoon and my team spends that fortnight on the decisions that actually need an engineer.

About AI GAS SYSTEMS

Built on Gas Industry Engineering Expertise

AI GAS SYSTEMS LTD was founded by Colin Weldon, a gas industry engineer whose career includes working with British Gas. The knowledge behind this platform was not gathered from textbooks — it came from designing and building piping systems, gas station infrastructure and storage facilities on real sites, under real constraints.

After years of watching capable engineers spend their days redrawing variations of work they had already done, he saw the opportunity: encode that hard-won judgement into software, so it could be applied at scale without diluting it.

The company exists to help engineers everywhere design safer, faster and more compliant gas infrastructure — combining decades of on-site experience with AI that handles the repetitive work.

Empower engineers to design gas infrastructure faster, safer and more accurately — combining proven engineering experience with intelligent AI.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Yes — and that is deliberate. The AI produces drafts, calculations and documentation; a licensed engineer reviews, adjusts and signs off. Legal responsibility for the design stays exactly where it always has. What changes is how much of your day is spent drafting rather than engineering.

Designs are generated against the framework you select for the project. Commonly used sets include:

  • UK and European gas installation and pipework standards, including the relevant EN series
  • Pressure equipment and mechanical integrity codes such as ASME for North American projects
  • National gas safety regulations and hazardous area classification requirements for the site's jurisdiction

Code sets are configurable per project, and every check is listed in the compliance pack so your reviewer can see precisely what was tested.

For a straightforward forecourt or storage layout, expect a reviewable draft within a few hours of uploading site data. Complex or heavily constrained sites take longer. Final sign-off depends on your own review process and the depth of scrutiny the project requires — we do not put a clock on that.

Yes. Drawings export to PDF and DWG, 3D geometry to STEP, and schedules to spreadsheet formats your contractors already use. Compliance reports come out as formatted documents suitable for submission alongside the drawings.

It is designed for people who already know gas engineering, so the concepts will be familiar from the first screen. Most engineers are producing usable drafts after a short guided onboarding session with our team. There is no scripting or configuration language to learn.

Yes. We deliver tailored training for engineering teams and build integrations into existing document control, asset and CAD environments. Get in touch with the details of your setup and we will scope it with you.
